A former Long Eaton Grammar School pupil, who was born at Sandiacre, has been awarded second prize of £175 for his entry in an architectural competition for the design of a primary School set by the Berkshire County Council He is Mr. Alan Goodman, aged 32 son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Goodman, of “Glenfield,” 40, Stanton Road, Sandiacre. The assessors described his design as “an imaginative scheme carried out with much finesse. " Mr. Goodman was educated at Sandiacre Council (now renamed Cloudside) school and won a scholarship to Long Eaton Grammar School. From there he went to Nottingham College of Art where he obtained his Diploma of Architecture. He is now an associate member of The Institute of British Architects.
