Plenty of light comes throught the conservatory style windows, but on dark days there is a flood light - see top centre. To the left of the bust is the door leading to the stairs to the roof.

Says Phil Payne: The light wasn't for 'dark days' - it was for illuminating models to create 'interesting' shadows. Certainly during our time evening classes were held at the school and they had live figure models. Long after we had gone home, of course.
