On Saturday, March 25, 2017, Paula Hammond nee Barsby passed away.

FUNERAL: will take place at St Mary's Church, in Church Lane, Attenborough, from 1.45pm on Wednesday, 12 April 2017, after a private cremation.

Paula attended Long Eaton Grammar School (LEGS) from 1955 until 1961 U6th and since 1983 has been actively involved in planning many of the school reunions.

Paula is married with three children and seven grand-children. Her first job was selling broken biscuits at the biscuit counter at Woolworths in Nottingham.

Paula was a magistrate in the county of Nottinghamshire from 1974 to 2014 and was chairman of the Nottingham bench. She frequently gave talks about the work of a magistrate to adult groups and schools and was a commitee member of the Magistrates Association.

Other interests include, President of Attenborough Lawn Tennis Club, Governor of Nottingham High School for almost 20 years where her husband, two sons, and one grandson attended. She also founded the Attenborough Ladies Hockey Club and was a Queen's Guide and a Brownie Leader (Brown Owl) since 1961.

Paula was a member of the Attenborough Parochial Church Council (PCC) and was a sidesman and active member of Attenborough St. Mary the Virgin and chairman of the Church Social Committee.

If all that wasn't enough she was a committee member of the Lucy and Vincent Brown Village Hall, a trustee of two charitable trust funds. and a founder member of the Cover Point Health Club.

Paula was awarded an MBE in July 2011.
