Des Rogers
LEGS 1948 U6th
Died 15 March 2016
Message dated 9 April from Ray Stokes:
Des Rogers passed away on the 15th March 2016. He was in a care home and didn't know his family any more, he must have been in a home 2 years or so. He was at school from 1940 - 1948. I didn't see much of him in recent years, but he was a good friend at school. His wife Pat Cliff was also at school she was in my year and left in 1949. He was at the reunion we had at Bestwood in 2004.
--------------------------
He was renowned as a 'star' soccer and cricket player and represented the School at both. The Rogers were a Spondon family, certainly from his commencement at LEGS, and on leaving played soccer for Long Eaton Utd, Spondon Amateurs and Spondon Power Station, probably other teams too. He was nearly always a centre forward and scores many goals. Des was always pleasant and good humoured.

He married Patricia Cliff in 1963, and he leaves her and a son. They have lived at Wardley, near Oakham, for at least the past fifteen years and possibly since retirement.

His late younger brother Vincent was also at LEGS 1942 - 1949.
