STAFF NOTES
In July last Miss Turner retired from teaching after thirty-seven
years at the School, a period which covers the greater part of the
School's history. Her work in building up the Biology Department,
and as Senior Mistress during the last five years, has been invaluable
and we all wish her long years of happiness in her well earned retire-
ment. She has been succeeded as Senior Mistress by Mrs. Noble,
who comes to us from Yeovil, and who reinforces the Physics Depart-
ment. We offer her a sincere welcome.
Welcome also to the other teachers who have joined the Staff
during the past year. Miss McGowan, a former pupil of the School,
has taken over the Biology Department. Mr. Saville (English) and
Mr. Atkinson (Mathematics) also arrived at the beginning of 1950.
In September we had Miss Ballantine (Games and Physical Training)
Miss Fewings (History), and Mr. Johnson (French and German).
In November Mrs. Wesson became supervisor in the new canteen
in succession to Miss Hardy, who has gone to Trent College. We
hope that all these have settled in comfortably by now.
We were sorry to bid good-bye to Mrs. White and Mrs. Cockerill
at the end of the summer term. Both have taken up new posts in
which we wish them every happiness and success.
