Tamworth Road, Long Eaton

This is Tamworth Road looking towards Sawley (now Long Eaton) Station from somewhere near Cedar Avenue. They are presently rebuilding the Southern (smaller) arch on the railway bridge using a concrete box section design. Yes very stylish ha ha! Why are they doing it - can anyone tell me?
